On Annie Lund Draney Wheeler’s death certificate I discovered her second husband – Frederick Wheeler. Then I decided to find their family in the 1930 US Census.
Frederick was 70 years old and she was 59 years old. The son listed, Jospeh E., I believe to be from Frederick’s first marriage. Annie did have a son Joseph from her first marriage, but he would have been 37 at the time of this census. This Joseph is listed as 27. Could it be an error? I couldn’t find a birth record for a Joseph Wheeler using the name search on Utah State Archives. I’ll have to keep digging.

From the 1870 Census I found two children for Peder and Christine Jensen. I’ve also gone back and found christening records for those children and for Peder. Since both children were christened in the Lutheran church I guess the Jensen’s didn’t get baptized into the LDS church like Christine’s family did…at least not yet. 🙂
Moving forward in time, I decided to look for the Jensen’s in the 1880 Danish census. I have family accounts, from the Funch/Lund’s in the USA, that the Jensen’s did immigrate at some future time. It would have to be after 1880 since they are in the census —
This time they have another son, Jacob Peter Jensen, age 1. There is a 10 year gap between Laurits and Jacob. Did they have more children who did not live to 1880? Miscarriages wouldn’t be recorded but stillbirth’s would probably get a burial record (but I would imagine not a birth record). If they did have children that lived for a short while, then I should be able to find a birth record. I’ll have to go through all the church records for those years and see what I can find.
For now, here’s the original image of the census:

Christine Funch Lund |
I don’t have a photograph for Peter Jensen – another good reason for decendancy research.
Since I already had Peter and Christine’s marriage record from 1865 in Nylarsker parish I thought I might try to find them in the 1870 Census. I guessed they may have stayed in Nylarsker, but since I didn’t know where Peter was from I wasn’t sure. Instead of looking through the 49 pages of census records for the parish–which I would have been willing to do–I decided to use the online index first to see if they were even in that parish. Using the Dansk Demografisk Database I looked for “Peder Jensen” in “Bornholm” in the “1870” Census. I further restricted his age to “30-39.” The first entry looked promising, so I selected “Show Household”:
I had seen Christine’s name listed as “Claudine Christine” in various online databases so I was okay with the name variation, particularly since her birth place matched what I had. So here we see two children born into the family.
Feeling good about this entry I decided to go ahead and pull up the original image:

Interesting:
- They are listed as “Lutheran” while I know that by this point Christine’s family have all joined the LDS Church and are listed in the same census–in fact on the very next page–as “Mormon”. I’ll have to take another look at the Bornholm LDS Branch records and see if I can find any information about Christine or Peter’s baptism.
- If Peter and Christine were still Lutheran then their children would have been christened and should be found in the parish records. Both are listed as being born in Nylarsker.
- Peter’s occupation is “Fisher” and so is his father-in-law Didrich’s. Do they work together?
- I now know that Peter was born in the Nylarsker parish so I can search for his christening record. He would have been born about 1840.

This is the last census currently available. The 1940 census will be available in April (yeah!) but for now, the trail of documents ends for the Lund family.
